Appalachian Wireless Arena is seeking a Finance Director to oversee the finance and accounting functions of the Arena. This position will supervise the finance department employees in the day-to-day functions involved in proper venue accounting. The Finance Director will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Arena’s policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities and tasks are coordinated with the General Manager.

Finance Director Position Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least five years of related work experience in developing and implementing financial systems and controls
  • Proficient in handling all aspects of the accounting cycle and principles and techniques of venue operation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
  • Must successfully pass the City’s criminal background check, credit check, and drug screen.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong business acumen and ability to drive results
  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting
  • High aptitude for figures; excellent math skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and maintain high confidential information
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing software
