Job Description

The Environmental Compliance Officer is responsible for enforcing the City's environmental ordinances and providing assistance to the Building Codes Officer. This position will primarily focus on identifying and addressing environmental and building codes violations by driving throughout the city. The role involves reporting construction activities, potential zoning code violations, and new business activity to the Building Codes Officer and the Tax Administrator. Additionally, the position will be responsible for assembling the weekly large trash order and collaborating with various city employees and departments, including the City Engineer, Tax Administrator, City Clerk, Utility Department, and others. Building a positive rapport with contractors operating within the city is also essential. Proficiency in operating reporting software related to various city permits is required for this role.

Qualifications

  • Must be a United States citizen or eligible to work in the U. S.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working in code enforcement, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen

Salary

Starting rate is $16.63/hour
